History: In 1994, David Kent worked as a home builder, a career he had enjoyed for many years. Due to his close connection to the real estate industry, friends and family often approached him for advice or assistance when buying a home. While he accommodated their requests to the extent real estate law would allow, he quickly saw a unique need to fill: there were no real estate agents in Mount Pleasant and Charleston that worked exclusively for home buyers. No agents that provided 100% buyer representation. No agents that went to bat for the buyer at the negotiating table.
With his distinctive background and extensive knowledge of the real estate industry and specifically homes for sale in Mount Pleasant, David Kent decided to embark on a new path. In 1995, David and Real Buyer’s Agent co-founder Cece Stricklin started building their own team of agents. Steadfast and committed to buyer representation, this relatively new approach to the real estate business took flight.
We think that every buyer deserves to be 100% represented by an agent who isn’t trying to divide their loyalties between a buyer and a seller. Since 1994 we’ve never represented a seller.
Today: Our mission is simple, we are committed to totally exceeding clients’ expectations by providing unequal professional service to our clients. Our hands-on approach to real estate insures that each of our buyers is both educated about the buying process to make knowledgeable decisions but also has an advocate through the process who is looking out for their best interests.
What separates us from the pack?
The Real Buyer’s Agent is small enough to give personalized attention to our buyers and large enough to offer a wider range of services than your average big box real estate office.
The Real Buyer’s Agent earns its fees just like other real estate agencies, by splitting the commission. This is where any similarity ends. Unlike listing agents, we show you the entire market: MLS properties, for sale by owner real estate (FSBO), foreclosure properties, new homes, vacant land, and anything else you are interested in buying. Although we help all of our clients find lenders, insurance companies, home inspectors, attorneys, and other businesses involved in a home purchase, we do not engage in questionable financial arrangements with them. Our relationships with these businesses are to ensure that you get the best price and best terms. We do not accept kickbacks.
Being an exclusive buyer’s agent is a choice. We are a different breed. We all decided to take the road less traveled, because we believe that every buyer should be zealously represented in a real estate transaction.
