Charleston County, SC - Subdivision application in 2023

In 2023, Charleston County had 351 applications submitted, 319 plats recorded at the Register of Deeds, and 352 new lots created.

Charleston County reviews for the following: Unincorporated Charleston County, the Town of Ravenel, the Town of James Island (4+lots), and the Town of Rockville. There were 340 plats submitted in 2022 and 317 in 2021.

Charleston County defines minor subdivisions of 4 lots or less and a major subdivision as five or more. Major subdivisions start as preliminary plats and then transfer to the final plats.
